For drive selection, include rpm, pulley teeth, belt width, center distance, torque or motor power, ambient condition and service factor.
For replacement work, include the old part number, readable belt markings, pulley photos and target delivery region.
For OEM or distributor requests, include annual volume, approved vendor list needs, documentation format and quality records.
A concise requirement produces a better answer. Part number, pulley geometry and machine duty are more useful than a general product name. If the drive is failing early, add hours of service, installation tension method, guard temperature and whether the pulley faces show wear.
For a new design, include motor power, shaft speed, driven pulley speed, center distance limits, allowable pulley diameter, start frequency and whether the machine uses a fixed base or take-up adjustment. For a replacement, include the full belt marking, top width, effective length, rib count or tooth pitch, plus photos of the pulley face. If the machine runs in dust, washdown, heat, oil mist or outdoor service, note that condition in the first message. It changes the practical recommendation and prevents a catalog match from being treated as an application approval.
For purchasing programs, list the required documentation package. Some teams need only a quote and catalog sheet. Others need ISO 9001 references, IATF 16949 controlled process notes, CE declarations, installation manuals, shelf-life guidance or distributor stocking confirmation. Gates support can route the request faster when the commercial and technical requirements arrive together.
If you are unsure which data matters, send the simplest known facts first: belt marking, pulley outside diameter, motor nameplate, machine photo and target delivery date. The first response can identify whether the request is a catalog lookup, a cross-reference, a DesignFlex Pro sizing case or a deeper engineering review.
Share pulley diameter, center distance, rpm, ambient temperature and duty cycle. A specification engineer will return a compact selection path.
